Our Story
IconCounty is a family-run business built on more than four decades of caring for people living with disabilities and those in aged care. Supporting individuals who need extra help, dignity, and understanding is not just our profession — it has been our life.
Our journey is deeply personal.
In 2001, after many tests, my husband was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease. At the time, we were raising three young children. Overnight, life became a delicate balance of split shifts, caregiving, hospital appointments, and doing everything we could to keep our family steady.
Huntington’s gradually affected his memory, movement, walking, and speech. As the disease progressed, so did our role as carers. We kept him at home for as long as possible, determined that our children would grow up with their father present in their daily lives. Through this, they learned compassion in its most real and unfiltered form.
By 2012, eating had become difficult. Frequent choking episodes led to repeated hospital stays, and it became clear that he needed full-time professional support. Making the decision to move him into aged care was one of the hardest moments of our lives.
In 2014, my husband passed away. Even through everything, he kept his full memory — a gift we will always treasure.
Because Huntington’s disease is hereditary, all three of our children chose to be tested. We remain incredibly grateful that each of them received a negative result.
This history is the foundation of IconCounty.
We understand what it truly means to care for someone vulnerable. We know the stress, the love, the exhaustion, and the constant undercurrent of hope. We know how important it is to have reliable, safe, high-quality products that make daily life easier — not just for those receiving care, but for the families and carers walking beside them.
IconCounty is our way of continuing the work we’ve always done. Every decision we make is guided by lived experience, honesty, and genuine compassion.
Because for us, care is not just a service.
It’s personal.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about our story.
